Folding device, the Z Fold 7, demonstrated resistance against a severe bend test. Let's consider the outcome for the Flip as well.

In a series of tests conducted by Zack Nelson of YouTube's JerryRigEverything, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 demonstrated an impressive display of resilience. The phone's hinge and foldable screen withstood intense pressure during the bend test without breaking or losing functionality[1][2][3][5].

Despite being flexed backwards, a direction in which it doesn't want to go, the Z Flip 7 remained intact even after multiple forceful bends[1][2][3][5]. Nelson expressed feigned disappointment but was clearly impressed by Samsung's design team[1].

In terms of scratch resistance, the cover screen began to show scratches at level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale, which is typical for everyday glass. However, the camera sensor glass was quite scratch resistant[1][2][4]. The main foldable inner screen, on the other hand, is fragile and prone to scratches, incurring permanent marks and scratches very easily[1][2][4]. Samsung offers one free replacement of the inner screen protector within 12 months[1][2][4].

The Z Flip 7's durability was tested a week after the Z Fold 7, Samsung's other new handset. The Z Fold 7 was designed to ensure its structural integrity, even in extreme situations[1][6]. However, no details were given about the durability test results for the Z Flip 7[1][6].

Interestingly, the Z Flip 7 was found to be more affordable than the Z Fold 7[1][7]. In contrast, the expected iPhone Air, set to be Apple's thinnest phone, has yet to be tested for its durability[1][7].

Regarding dust resistance, despite only an IP48 rating, which is moderate dust protection, the Z Flip 7 performed well when sand and dirt were applied around the hinge. Although creaking sounds were heard, the hinge and folding mechanism continued to work without failure[2][5].

In summary, Zack Nelson found the Galaxy Z Flip 7's hinge and outer screen durability impressive and notably resistant to bending and dust, but the inner foldable screen remains delicate and prone to scratches with light contact[1][2][3][4][5]. The durability of the iPhone Air remains unknown as it has not been tested yet.

Gadget enthusiasts might find the resilience of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7's hinge and smartphones like this impressive, as it shows a robustness even under intense pressure. Moreover, the Z Flip 7's technology, featuring its dust resistant design, will catch the attention of those looking for gadgets that can withstand various conditions.
