Google Unveils Gemini: Revamped AI for Enhanced Home Experience
Google has unveiled Gemini, a revamped AI for Google Home, bringing improved notifications, video search, and daily summaries. These advanced features are now part of the Google Home Premium Advanced plan, priced at $20 per month.
Gemini's key enhancements include 'Home Brief', which condenses hours of footage into concise text summaries. For Nest camera users, notifications now provide detailed information about who was seen, their actions, and the context. Gemini also offers zoomed-in, animated previews of crucial moments directly in notifications.
The 'Ask Home' feature allows users to search their video history for specific events or information. Gemini's Familiar Faces feature has also been enhanced for better accuracy. These advanced features require a Google Home Premium subscription, starting at $10 per month for 30 days of event-based video history. The subscription prices remain unchanged from the current Nest Aware costs, which increased in August. Users can expect the premium features of Gemini for Nest cameras to be fully available starting early 2026 as part of the Google Home Premium subscription. The Gemini for Home features and redesigned Google Home app are now available in early access.
