Google's New Pixel Model 10: Critical Insights and Key Details

Google is gearing up for the launch of its next-generation smartphone, the Pixel 10 series, scheduled for August 20, 2025. The event is expected to unveil several new devices, including the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and the Pixel Watch 4.

The Pixel 10 series is set to introduce a range of exciting features, starting with its design. The base Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro models will retain a similar design to the Pixel 9 series, with curved edges. The base model will come in four colours: Obsidian, Indigo, Frost, and Limoncello, while the front and rear panels will be protected by durable Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Pixel 10 base model will feature a triple rear camera array, an upgrade from its predecessor.

The Pixel 10's display will boast a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (FHD+) LTPO OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Reports suggest a peak brightness of between 2,000 to 3,000 nits, making it significantly brighter than the Pixel 9. The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL will maintain their previous display sizes but with improved PWM dimming for a better viewing experience.

Under the hood, the Pixel 10 series will be powered by the new Tensor G5 chip, manufactured on a 3nm process by TSMC. Google has emphasised AI performance over raw CPU benchmarks, and the new chip is expected to deliver significant improvements in this area. The base Pixel 10 will come with 12GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB, while the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL will feature 16GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 128GB up to 1TB.

In terms of photography, the base Pixel 10 will feature a triple rear camera setup. The main sensor will be a 48MP downgrade from the Pixel 9, while the ultrawide sensor will be reduced to 12MP. A new 10.8MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and potential macro functionality will be added, indicating a push for more versatile photography. The Pixel 10 Pro models will maintain similar camera specs as their predecessors but with improvements in software imaging capabilities.

The Pixel 10 series will ship with Android 16 preinstalled and promises 7 years of major OS upgrades, continuing Google's commitment to long-term software support for Pixel devices. The battery life is expected to be impressive, with the base Pixel 10 boasting a 4,970mAh battery and charging speeds of 29W for wired charging and 15W for wireless charging.

A more affordable variant, possibly called the Pixel 10a, is rumoured to be released between March and May 2026. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold may feature an IP68-certified build for enhanced durability, and its battery capacity is expected to be 5,015mAh, surpassing the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The Pixel Sense AI assistant, the most advanced on Google devices yet, is rumoured to launch with the Pixel 10. The Tensor G5 chip will reportedly have eight CPU cores, including an Arm Cortex-X4 core for heavy-duty tasks, two Cortex-A520 cores for lighter tasks, and five Cortex-A725 cores for medium-intensity programs.

The Pixel 10 may also introduce a "sketch to image" tool similar to Apple's implementation with Apple Intelligence. Additionally, the Pixel 10 may feature a matte glass finish on the back for a unique aesthetic. The keynote for the Pixel 10 event is expected to start at 1 pm ET (10 am PT).

Stay tuned for more updates on the Google Pixel 10 series as we approach the launch event in August 2025.

The Pixel 10 series is anticipated to include not only the new Pixel 10 smartphone but also other gadgets such as the Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and the Pixel Watch 4. With its launch just around the corner, technology enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the new features of Google's upcoming smartphones, including the triple rear camera setup on the base Pixel 10 model.
