Artificial Intelligence Code of Conduct for Health and Medicine Released

The National Academy of Medicine's AI Code of Conduct initiative has unveiled a framework for artificial intelligence (AI) in health, healthcare, and biomedical sectors on May 19. Notably, our website's President, Vardit Ravitsky, is part of the steering committee of the initiative.

The publication, titled "An Artificial Intelligence Code of Conduct for Health and Medicine: Essential Guidance for Aligned Action," serves as a foundation for harmonizing the field's approach to AI development and application. It aims to promote responsible AI use and encourage collective action to ensure AI's transformative potential in health and medicine is realized.

The framework targets every level of decision-making, from corporate boards to hospital bedsides, making it applicable in various settings, from invention labs to insurance reimbursement policies. It offers a blueprint for developing trust, safeguarding patients, and maximizing the benefits of AI innovation. Access the publication here.

Vardit Ravitsky will discuss the AI Code of Conduct framework, its applications, and its priorities during a webinar on June 12. Participants can learn more and register for the event by following the provided link. More details here.

The initiative is designed to streamline the fragmented landscape of AI guidelines, providing a unified set of principles for achieving governance interoperability. This should allow for a more efficient and responsible integration of AI technologies within healthcare systems.
