The Astell&Kern x 64 Audio XIO, a collaboration between two renowned audio brands, is set to redefine the landscape of high-end in-ear monitors (IEMs). With a price tag of $3,000, this premium product is slated for release through authorized retailers starting in August 2025.
At its heart, the XIO boasts a sophisticated 10-driver hybrid system. This includes two dual-dynamic bass drivers, six mid-range balanced armature drivers, one upper-mid balanced armature driver, and one tia high-frequency driver. The 4-way passive crossover ensures seamless frequency transitions, creating a "spacious, realistic soundstage."
The XIO incorporates several proprietary technologies from 64 Audio. The tia driver eliminates traditional sound tubes, reducing resonance and distortion. The apex system helps maintain ear comfort by releasing pressure naturally while sealing out ambient noise. The XIO includes DLC-coated 904L stainless steel apex modules. LID technology compensates for driver resistance variations, ensuring consistent sound quality across different devices.
The XIO's shell is made of 904L stainless steel, harder to machine than conventional steel, and each shell receives a black Diamond-Like Carbon coating for a matte black aesthetic. The XIO's faceplate carries Astell&Kern's design DNA, with carefully engineered shading and reflections.
The XIO's cable maintains a 0.29Ω impedance for excellent noise shielding and features silver-plated UP-OCC copper Litz with a four-core cross-braided design. The cable ends with a 4.4mm balanced connector.
