New Luxury Electric Sedan from Maextro Challenges the Market

The Maextro S800, a new luxury electric sedan, has been launched by the joint venture between Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC). Priced at RMB 708,000 ($98,600) for the base BEV model, the Maextro S800 is one of the most expensive domestic automaker offerings.

This high-performance electric vehicle comes with both BEV and Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) options. The BEV variant boasts a 94 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 702 kilometers. The power output in combined form is around 852 horsepower. Another EREV variant features a rear-wheel-drive system with a 100 kWh ternary lithium battery, producing 310 kW (422 hp) and 440 Nm torque. The Maextro S800 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 5.2 seconds.

The Maextro S800 is not just about speed and power. It offers a spacious, high-end interior with luxury amenities. The rear cabin includes retractable partitions and captain seats for enhanced privacy. There's also a detachable rear armrest screen, enhancing passenger comfort and tech interaction.

In terms of dimensions, the Maextro S800 measures 5,480 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 3,370 mm.

With the Maextro S800, the Huawei-JAC joint brand aims to challenge models like Mercedes-Maybach, Nio, and Huawei in the luxury market. Richard Yu, the executive director and chairman of Huawei's consumer business group, announced that the Maextro S800 has received over 10,000 firm orders within 67 days of its launch on May 30.

The Maextro S800 is available in both four-seat and five-seat versions, with the four-seat models starting at RMB 818,000, and the five-seat models starting at RMB 708,000 for the BEV variant and RMB 788,000 for the base EREV variant.
