Hitachi Rail Delivers 300th Train for UK Passengers
Hitachi Rail has reached a significant milestone, delivering its 300th train for UK passengers. The company, known for its innovation in green and digital technology, has been a key player in the UK's rail industry for over a decade.
Hitachi's journey began in 2009 with the delivery of the Class 395 Javelin train. Since then, it has expanded its operations to include 16 sites across the UK, employing over 2,100 highly skilled maintenance staff. These employees contribute to the company's annual gross value add of £500m to the UK economy.
The 300th train delivered is the Class 807 for Avanti West Coast, marking a significant achievement for the company. Hitachi's trains operate across 10 fleets with reliability rates three times higher than the industry average. Jim Brewin, Chief Director of UK & Ireland Hitachi Rail, attributes this success to strategic partnerships and quality industry partners in the UK.
