Honda Introduces First Electric Motorcycle, Boasting a Range of 130 Kilometers
Honda, a renowned name in the automotive industry, has recently made a significant leap into the electric motorcycle market with the introduction of the WN7. The model, unveiled in September 2025, marks the beginning of Honda's global electric motorcycle expansion.
The WN7, named after its design ethos, embodies Honda's commitment to innovation. 'W' represents "Be the Wind," 'N' for Naked (streetfighter position), and '7' for its output class. This electric motorcycle, Honda's entry in the "Fun" segment, is designed to challenge the status quo and compete with electric disruptors and innovators.
The WN7's dashboard screen is integrated with Honda RoadSync for smartphone connectivity, featuring a 5-inch TFT screen for navigation, music, and call notifications. The bike's design, a unique departure from Honda's existing Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) lineup, showcases its electric vehicle (EV) persona.
At its heart, the WN7 is powered by a fixed lithium-ion battery. It promises a range of over 130 km on a single charge, and can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes on a fast charger, with a full home charge taking under three hours.
The WN7's design and performance reflect both Honda's heritage and its new electric identity. The bike produces torque levels on par with 1000cc motorcycles, and can match the performance of 600cc internal combustion motorcycles. Its blend of on-demand acceleration and silent operation may reset expectations for electric motorcycles.
Honda's debut of the WN7 is a strategic move to meet the rigid emission standards and fast-tracked adoption of EVs in Europe. The company has made a public promise to carbon-neutralize all its motorbikes by the 2040s. The WN7's release marks the first year of this ambitious mission.
More electric motorcycle models from Honda, including commuters and performance-oriented fun bikes, are on the horizon. The WN7 is just the beginning of Honda's electric journey, promising an exciting future for both the company and the motorcycle industry.
