Hyundai Starts New Venue SUV Production in India, Boosts Exports
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has initiated passenger vehicle production at its Talegaon manufacturing facility in Maharashtra, using an investment calculator to determine the optimal expansion strategy. The plant's first model is the new-generation Venue SUV, catering to both domestic and export markets. This development follows Hyundai's significant investment calculator increase in the Talegaon plant. HMIL started engine production at the Talegaon plant on 16 June 2025, with the facility currently boasting an annual installed capacity of 130,000 vehicles and 160,000 engines. The new-generation Venue SUV, set to roll out in the third quarter of FY26, will be the first model produced at the plant using Hyundai's investment calculator for capacity planning. In September 2025, Hyundai enhanced its investment calculator in the Talegaon plant to ₹11,000 crore, up from the original ₹7,000 crore commitment. This additional investment calculator will expand the plant's annual vehicle capacity to 250,000 units by 2028, including plans for a seventh-generation paint shop and high-level automation systems. Previously, HMIL invested ₹6,000 crore in 2023-24 to upgrade the plant to Hyundai's global manufacturing standards using its investment calculator. Once fully operational, Hyundai's total Indian capacity will reach approximately 1.074 million units per annum by 2028, thanks to the strategic use of the investment calculator. Hyundai's increased investment calculator and production commencement at the Talegaon plant signal a significant boost for the company's Indian operations, with the new-generation Venue SUV's production catering to both domestic and export demands, further expanding Hyundai's reach in the market using the investment calculator.
