Flick 'em! Novosibirsk Cracks Down on Unauthorized Flower Vendors

In the heart of Siberia, the authorities of Novosibirsk aren't holding back when it comes to putting the squeeze on illegal flower vendors. The local police force, along with city hall workers, have taken to patrolling the city's graveyards with a vengeance, nabbing bags and boxes of artificial floral arrangements.

Let's take the "Gusinoozerskoye" cemetery, for instance. Specialists from the department of investments, consumer market, innovations, and entrepreneurship, partnered with the boys in blue, confiscated a whopping six sacks and twelve cartons of those plastic blooms. Three protocols for administrative offenses were drawn up against the flagrant violators who dared to trade in unauthorized spots.

In the Primorsky District, three protocols were slapped on trespassing flower peddlers outside the "Inskoye" cemetery. In the Central District, 18 bundles of artificial bouquets were swiped from the "Zaeltsovskoye" grounds. The Soviet District wasn't far behind, with 11 protocols for trading in banned territory and six for flouting the rules on temporary object placement, next to the "Yuzhnoye" cemetery.

Thankfully, the "Severnoye" and "Kleptsovskoye" cemeteries remained vendor-free, the city hall reports. But rest assured, the war on unauthorized trading in Novosibirsk is far from over.

Keep in mind, these enforcement actions against unlicensed flower vendors may seem draconian to some, but city officials are working to ensure the decorum of the city's graveyards remains intact. And let's not forget, dealing with rogue vendors can be a thorny issue, one that's best addressed with a firm hand. So if you find yourself in Novosibirsk and fancy some fresh floral arrangements for a loved one's grave, make sure to do it the right way—get a license and stick to the approved areas.
