Increased server demand boosts Quanta's revenue by 70.6 percent
In a significant development, Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Quanta Computer Inc. has announced impressive figures for its Q2 2025 performance. The company, renowned for producing notebook computers and servers, has seen a surge in shipments and revenue across both sectors.
Last month alone, Quanta shipped an impressive 5 million notebook computers, marking a 3.41% year-on-year increase. This momentum continued into the second quarter, with the company shipping a total of 12.1 million notebook computers, representing a 12.03% sequential rise.
However, it's the server segment that has truly catapulted Quanta into the spotlight. In the first quarter of 2025, servers became the company's largest revenue source, accounting for about 70% of overall sales. This trend is expected to continue, with AI server revenue in the second quarter predicted to contribute between 65 to 70% of Quanta's total server sales.
Quanta's success in the server market is largely attributed to its partnership with Nvidia. The company has been shipping servers powered by Nvidia's artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators, and this collaboration has been instrumental in Quanta's growth. Quanta began shipping NVIDIA's GB200 AI servers in Q2 2025 and is preparing to ship the more advanced GB300 AI servers starting in September 2025.
Despite the positive outlook, the company's guidance for AI server revenue growth remains at a triple-digit percentage year-on-year. The exact figure for AI server revenue in the second quarter will be disclosed at Quanta's second-quarter earnings conference.
However, the company's overall revenue for the first half of 2025 was NT$989.79 billion, a substantial 73.99% increase from a year earlier. This growth is particularly impressive given the challenges Quanta has faced, such as the weakening US dollar, which has negatively impacted the company's sales as most of its receivables are denominated in US dollars.
Despite these challenges, Quanta remains committed to its partnership with Nvidia and aims to begin shipments of Nvidia's GB300 servers as early as September. The production of these servers, however, remains challenging due to their higher power requirements.
Looking ahead, the official stated that notebook shipments in the second half might be lower due to front-loading effects and tariff uncertainties. Nevertheless, the expected contribution of AI server revenue to Quanta's overall server sales for the second quarter is significant, positioning Quanta as a key player in the rapidly growing AI server market.
The impressive growth in Quanta's servers revenue, driven by AI server sales, places the company in a strategic position within the data-and-cloud-computing sector, where finance and technology intersect. The collaboration with Nvidia, particularly the shipping of GB200 and upcoming GB300 AI servers, has been instrumental in this feat.
