The head of QSC is reveling in his 15th InfoComm as the fresh Chair of the Board of Directors for AVIXA.

InfoComm 2025 marks a significant milestone for Jatan Shah's Pro AV career, as he returns to the very event that kick-started his journey in the industry.

Jatan Shah, the head honcho at QSC, has been steering the Pro AV ship since 2010. His journey began with a career in HVAC and management consulting before he landed at QSC, where he experienced his first InfoComm right here in Orlando. Now, as the new AVIXA Chair of the Board of Directors, Shaw's celebrating his 15th InfoComm with a bang!

Shah stepped onto the AVIXA Board in 2021, a move that meant just as much as taking the reins as Chair. "Remember back in 2021? Scary times, lots of doubts about the future, and a REALLY small InfoComm show," Shaw said. "Being a part of the Board back then was a real humbling experience. Not everyone felt like partying when the world was on edge."

Once he became an officer, Shaw knew the commitment was a long-term one, and he was excited to get stuck in. "Being on the AVIXA Board was a fantastic opportunity to do something meaningful for the Pro AV community, and becoming the Chair really sealed the deal," Shaw explained.

As Chair, Shaw serves a one-year term. His view of the board's agenda is to make AVIXA the hub of the industry and a driving force for growth in the AV world. "When you're Chair, you have this unique opportunity to bring out the best in everyone, as the Board is as diverse as it gets," Shaw said. "We're bringing voices to the table and working hard to help AVIXA reach its ambitious goals."

It's an exciting time in Pro AV, and Shah's seen firsthand how AV and other sectors like lighting are starting to overlap. His own company, QSC, was recently acquired by Acuity Brands, further giving him a bird's-eye view of the industry's transformation. "There's a big trend of the once-siloed sectors of AV, IT, and broadcast spaces joining forces, and it's fascinating to see," Shaw said.

At InfoComm 2025, conversation highlights include the practical use of AI, industry convergence, and the changes sweeping the Pro AV world. "AI is everywhere at InfoComm 2025, making waves in conference rooms, classrooms, production spaces, and retail environments. We're talking smart, AI-enhanced cameras, microphones, and automation tools, all driven by the desire for smoother, more efficient workflows," Shaw explained.

Another hot topic is the combination of AI and data, with a focus on cloud platforms and data-driven insights. "Think computer vision, real-time translations, captioning, and synthetic voice that's making a real impact at live events," Shaw added. He emphasized that the AI trend is about improving human engagement, not replacing it.

It's not just AI making waves – convergence of AV, IT, and broadcast is a major theme this year. "Sustainability is also a significant factor, pushing demand for energy-efficient, fanless, future-ready AV technologies. The future's brighter than ever for Pro AV!" Shaw concluded.
