The Dongfeng M-Hero M817, a new entrant in the off-roading world, is making waves with its impressive hybrid powertrains, strong electric range capabilities, and advanced intelligent driving assistance. This high-performance vehicle is a product of Dongfeng and is available in both city and off-road versions.
Powering the M-Hero M817 is an intelligent multi-mode Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) system, boasting a combined power output exceeding 700 horsepower. The system consists of a 1.5L turbocharged range extender engine, a front and rear dual-motor four-wheel-drive system, and is built on a dual platform architecture that combines Warrior Intelligent Off-Road Architecture M-tech with Huawei’s Tianyuan Architecture.
In its PHEV variant, the vehicle delivers 505 kW (687 hp), 848 Nm peak torque, and accelerates from 0-100 kph in 5.2 seconds. It offers a pure electric CLTC range of 140 km, with a combined range of over 1000 km when fully fueled and charged. A higher-performance variant boosts power to 912 hp and 1280 Nm torque, with a 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) time of around 4.2 seconds. It offers an electric range of up to 200 km CLTC, and a combined range of 1300 km when fully fueled and charged.
The M-Hero M817 offers a spacious platform, with dimensions of 5,085 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, 1,740 mm in height, and a wheelbase of over 3 meters (3050 mm). It is equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 4 ADAS system, supporting full-scenario intelligent driving from parking lot to parking lot, high-speed navigation assistance, and over 160 different parking scenarios.
The M-Hero M817's battery is a rugged off-road specific one, designed by CATL for durability in challenging terrain. It also features a multi-mode intelligent plug-in hybrid system, enabling flexible power management for off-roading and efficiency.
The off-road variant of the M-Hero M817 is equipped with nitrogen shock absorbers, anti-detachment rims, and AT tires for enhanced performance in challenging terrain. It also boasts an approach angle of 30° and a departure angle of 30°/25°.
The M-Hero M817 will officially unveil its full range of colours and interior designs at the 29th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Auto Show, opening on May 31, 2025.
