In a significant move for the electric vehicle (EV) industry, Voyah Motors, a premium EV brand under Dongfeng, has announced its self-developed 800V high-voltage platform and super-fast charging technology. This development is set to revolutionize the EV landscape, addressing concerns over charging times and driving range.

The 800V high-voltage platform, compatible with 400V/160kW DC fast charging and 380V/11kW AC charging, is designed to deliver rapid charging speeds. Under the CLTC (City Driving Test Cycle) conditions, this platform can improve driving efficiency to an impressive 91%.

One of the key benefits of the 800V platform is its ability to recharge a battery for a range of 400km in just 10 minutes. This ultra-fast charging capability is a game-changer, significantly reducing charging downtime and alleviating "range anxiety" for EV drivers.

The technological integration and efficiency of the 800V architecture are noteworthy. Electric drive systems for these platforms combine motor, controller, reducer, and power electronics into smaller, more efficient units with higher power densities (over 5 kW/kg) and reduced energy losses (15%-20%) through wide-bandgap semiconductor use like SiC and GaN. This boosts drivetrain efficiency, helping increase driving range.

Voyah Motors' 800V high-voltage platform boasts a charging power of 360kW, making it one of the most powerful charging systems in the EV industry. The platform has already been adopted by other automakers such as Porsche, GM, Hyundai Motors, and Mercedes Benz.

The Voyah FREE, the first model released under the Voyah brand, is a large, medium-sized SUV. The battery pack of the Voyah FREE has a capacity of 33kWh. The four-wheel-drive electric version of the Voyah FREE will have a maximum power output of 694 HP and a peak torque of 1040 NM, offering a cruising range of 475 KM.

In addition to the high-end electric version, the Voyah FREE will also be available as a PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) model. This model will equip a 1.5T turbocharged four-cylinder engine and will have a maximum power output of 694 HP and a peak torque of 1040 NM. The two-wheel-drive electric version of the Voyah FREE will produce a maximum power output of 347 HP, and peak torque is 520 NM, offering a cruising range of 505 KM.

The Voyah FREE PHEV model will have two variants: a two-wheel-drive model with a single motor and a four-wheel-drive model with dual motors. The Europe-bound Voyah car brand is also preparing to launch a full-size NEV (New Energy Vehicle) crossover.

The interior of the Voyah Courage has been revealed, featuring Huawei's ADS 4.0, signifying a strong partnership between the two tech giants. The Voyah Free+ EREV with Huawei ADS 4 entered the market at 30,650 USD in China.

This trend of adopting 800V high-voltage platforms is expected to continue evolving in 2025 and beyond, with further optimization in battery chemistry, motor technology, and power electronics integration. The future of EV charging is looking brighter and more efficient than ever.
