Investment of $600 billion by Apple to Elevate Domestic American Production

In a historic move, tech giant Apple has announced a massive investment of $600 billion in American manufacturing over the next four years. The announcement, made in August 2025, marks Apple's largest-ever investment in the United States and a strategic push to reduce reliance on foreign manufacturing.

The investment, under a new initiative called the American Manufacturing Program (AMP), is aimed at expanding domestic production capabilities, supply chain, and advanced manufacturing technology. Key components of this investment include:

  1. Smart Glass Manufacturing Line in Kentucky: Apple plans to build a U.S.-based manufacturing line for smart glass, crucial for iPhones and Apple Watches. Corning, a major partner, is expanding operations in Kentucky to produce all cover glass domestically. An Apple-Corning Innovation Center will also be established to drive technological advancements and regional innovation.
  2. Server Manufacturing Facility in Houston: Apple will build a facility dedicated to manufacturing servers, supporting cloud infrastructure and data center technologies.
  3. Investment in Data Centers Across the U.S.: Billions will be invested in constructing and expanding data centers nationwide to support Apple's services, AI, and cloud infrastructure.
  4. Manufacturing Academy in Detroit: To foster talent and support workforce development in advanced manufacturing and engineering skills, Apple will establish a manufacturing academy in Detroit.
  5. Supply Chain Development: The AMP aims to create a fully integrated U.S.-based supply chain for crucial components, involving partnerships with major suppliers like Corning, Texas Instruments, and TSMC, thereby increasing domestic production.
  6. Job Creation: The initiative is expected to generate approximately 20,000 new jobs at Apple and thousands more across related sectors, particularly in advanced technology fields such as silicon engineering and research & development.

This commitment aligns with broader trends in the U.S. tech sector to bolster semiconductor production, AI infrastructure, and cloud computing capabilities, positioning America as a leader in these fields.

President Trump thanked Apple for putting American innovation and American jobs front and center. Apple CEO Tim Cook joined Trump at the White House for the announcement. The investment is expected to contribute to the growth and development of American tech industries.

This $600 billion commitment follows an initial investment of $500 billion, announced in 2021, and represents a significant increase in Apple's commitment to domestic manufacturing and job creation.
