Israel views the Philippines as a burgeoning economic opportunity

In a significant move to bolster cybersecurity cooperation, the Israel Economic Mission hosted a cyber roadshow in Taguig, Philippines on August 12, 2025. The event, which attracted eight Israeli companies specializing in various cybersecurity fields, was a testament to the growing interest of Israeli firms in the Philippine market.

A Promising Market for Israeli Cybersecurity Companies

The roadshow was initiated against the backdrop of a rapidly advancing digital transformation in the Philippines. This digital expansion, coupled with shared cybersecurity challenges, is creating a fertile ground for Israeli cybersecurity companies to offer their cutting-edge solutions.

The Philippine government, through its Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), is actively strengthening cybersecurity frameworks and legislation. This includes the proposed Cybersecurity Bill, which creates a conducive environment for cybersecurity innovation and investment.

Opportunities for Partnerships and Innovation

Events like the Philippines–Israel Cybersecurity Forum facilitate direct engagement between Israeli firms and Filipino stakeholders, fostering partnership, knowledge exchange, and tailored cybersecurity solutions that address local needs.

Cybersecurity is one of several sectors where Israel and the Philippines are deepening ties, alongside agritech, health, life sciences, and startup innovation. This holistic approach to technology cooperation indicates a promising future for bilateral collaboration.

Strong Interest from Israeli Companies

Economic Counsellor Ofek Venecianer highlighted the Philippines' rapid digital transformation, cyber threat exposure, and strong potential for long-term business partnership as reasons for the high level of interest from Israeli cybersecurity firms in the Philippine market. Venecianer stated that the level of interest is "one of the highest in Asia."

Venecianer also mentioned that while Israel naturally looks towards the US and Europe, Asia is a growing market, and the Philippines specifically is interesting for Israeli companies due to its English proficiency, strategic role in Southeast Asia, and a connection of trust between the two nations.

Support from the Israeli Embassy

Israel Deputy Ambassador Ester Buzgan emphasized the cultural similarities between Israelis and Filipinos as a positive factor for business. Buzgan noted that both Israeli companies and Philippine entities are actively seeking business partnerships, with the latter seeking cybersecurity solutions.

The Israeli Embassy to the Philippines acknowledges the Philippines as an emerging market for cybersecurity solutions, and the roadshow is a step towards fostering this growth.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s recent State of the Nation Address emphasized the need for digitalization for the Philippines to keep up with its neighboring countries and do business with them. The cyber roadshow is a timely initiative that aligns with this vision.

In summary, for Israeli cybersecurity companies, the Philippine market offers high growth potential fueled by digital expansion, supportive government policies, and opportunities for strategic partnerships, innovation, and market scaling. This market is considered a priority by Israeli economic and diplomatic missions, signaling strong and sustained opportunities ahead.
