Food Village, a leading provider of school meals, unveils a significant expansion with the launch of a state-of-the-art food service facility in Longford. This development marks the creation of 200 new jobs in the area, as part of the company's investment exceeding €3 million into its Longford operations.

The investment also encompasses a €1 million commitment to technological advancements and a dedicated software team, totaling over €4 million in combined investment. Job opportunities span various sectors, including culinary production, business development, logistics, mechanics, customer services, IT, HR, and more.

The facility, set to serve as a national distribution hub for Food Village, will focus on supplying hot meals for secondary schools across the country. Richie Nangle, the Founder and CEO of Food Village, expressed his enthusiasm towards the project, stating, "This venture signifies our dedication to supplying high-quality, fresh, nutritious, and locally sourced meals to students nationwide."

In a commendable move, Minister of State at the Department of Finance and TD for Longford-Westmeath, Robert Troy, will officiate the opening of the facility today. He acknowledged the importance of hot school meals for pupils' wellbeing, as they contribute to better mental and physical health.

Food Village plans to make its services accessible through a mobile and web app, utilizing AI-driven insights and predictive models to minimize food waste in the supply chain. The technology is designed to help chefs adjust production according to student preferences, thereby improving overall efficiency.
