Kazakhstan to Connect 99% of its Rural Regions with Internet Access by 2027

🙌 Rural Kazakhstan's Internet Revolution 🙌

Get ready, folks! Kazakhstan is on a mission to bridge the digital divide between its urban and rural areas, and they're doing it in style. By the end of 2027, a whopping 99% of rural settlements will be graced with the sweet, sweet nectar of high-speed internet.

This digital overhaul is no small feat. Thanks to the miraculous finger-twirling of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry and Kazakhtelecom, it looks like they'll beat their own schedule, with fiber-optic installations scheduled for an early 2026 wrap-up. For the more remote areas, they're gonna go all SpaceX on them and connect via satellite by the end of 2027.

Schools, hospitals, administrative buildings, you name it—they're all in on this interweb extravaganza. Nearly all rural settlements will be linked through nanosecond-speed fiber-optic (88%) and space-age satellite (12%) connections.

The budget for this game-changing project? A cool 239 billion tenge (US$470 million), funded by none other than extra-budgetary funds. Kazakhtelecom's colossal telecommunications network is pulling no punches here.

And don't forget about the cellular communications infrastructure in rural areas. They're beefing that up like never before, with fiber-optic lines giving a significant boost to the quality of mobile internet and communications.

So why's this matter? Well, according to Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev, equitable internet access means equal opportunities for education, healthcare, and government services. A stable and transparent infrastructure creates the perfect foundation for the growth of small businesses, rural schools, and new professional paths for young people.

"This is the future, baby!" says Madiyev, and we couldn't agree more. Hold onto your modems, folks—the digital revolution is coming to rural Kazakhstan! 🚀🚀🚀

With the digital revolution upon them, technology will play a significant role in bridging the gap between urban and rural Kazakhstan by providing high-speed internet connections to nearly all rural settlements by 2027. This extensive project, funded by extra-budgetary funds, aims to create equal opportunities for education, healthcare, and government services by establishing a stable and transparent infrastructure that supports small businesses, rural schools, and professional growth.
