## Kia Unveils the EV5: A Compact Electric SUV Exclusive to Canada

Kia Motors has announced the launch of its latest electric vehicle (EV), the EV5, a compact SUV scheduled for release in the spring of 2026. The EV5, which is similar in size to a Toyota RAV4, will be a Canada-exclusive in the North American market.

The EV5 will offer two battery sizes, a standard range of 60.3 kWh and a long range of 81.4 kWh, providing up to 329 miles (approximately 530 km) of WLTP range with the long-range model [1][2][5]. The vehicle will be available in both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations, catering to various driving conditions [2].

Charging capabilities for the EV5 are impressive, with a maximum charging rate of 11 kW on a residential charger and 150 kW on a rapid charger. This means that a 10% to 80% charge can be achieved in just 30 minutes [1][3]. The charging rates mentioned are maximum capacities.

Inside the EV5, drivers will find a modern interior equipped with a panoramic wide display, including a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The vehicle also boasts advanced driver assistance systems and connectivity features such as Kia Connect Store and digital key 2.0 [3].

The EV5 will be assembled in South Korea, with production taking place at Kia's Gwangju plant [4]. The vehicle will be launched alongside the compact EV4 sedan, marking a significant step in Kia's strategy to strengthen its presence in key electrified segments.

While the exact price of the EV5 for the Canadian market has not been revealed, it is expected to be competitively priced to meet the needs of modern Canadian consumers [4]. The EV5 will also include a Tesla (NACS) charging port, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of charging stations.

With the EV5, Kia continues to demonstrate its commitment to the electric vehicle market, offering Canadians an affordable and efficient electric SUV option. More details about the EV5, including technical specifications and final pricing, will be revealed closer to its launch date in the spring of 2026.
