The innovative PolyPulse from Lambda Synthetics might shatter the limitations of the 16-step grid, despite its potentially unsightly appearance.

Lambda Synthetics' PolyPulse may not be aesthetically pleasing, yet it could potentially shatter the constraints of the 16-step sequencer, offering a new musical freedom.

Introducing the PolyPulse: A Revolutionary Groovebox Workstation

The PolyPulse, a groundbreaking algorithmic performance workstation by Lambda Synthetics, is set to redefine the boundaries of music production. This innovative device, unveiled in 2023, boasts a unique combination of hardware and software features designed for advanced groovebox-style music creation.

At its core, the PolyPulse offers five independent tracks, each equipped with an algorithmic sequencer, polyphonic sound engine, audio effects chain, and a dedicated XY touchpad. These features enable complex layered compositions, providing musicians with a wealth of creative possibilities.

The device's control interface is equally impressive, featuring 32 encoders, 13 potentiometers, and 65 keyboard-style buttons. A two-octave (25-key) keyboard integrated into the buttons allows for melodic play, while the OLED display provides clear visual feedback and navigation of its advanced features.

The PolyPulse stands out from traditional instruments due to its emphasis on algorithmic sequencing, multi-synthesis, and sampling capabilities. It breaks free from the constraints of typical 16-step grid sequencers, offering a more fluid and creative sequencing environment. Lambda Synthetics continues to update the system firmware, introducing usability features like numpad controls for parameter editing.

The PolyPulse's unique design offers tons of potential for creative sound design and more hands-on control than typical instruments. It features a comprehensive range of effects, including compression, reverb, delay, EQ, filter, drive, and tape emulation. Each track has four effects slots, and the master bus also has four effects slots.

The sequencer treats rhythm and pitch independently, and the device features a global 'note list' shared by all tracks, which can be reversed and randomized. The PolyPulse uses a per-voice modulation system that can assign a multi-waveform LFO, AD envelope, 16-step sequencer, or randomizer to any destination across its sound engines, effects, and other modulators.

With over €50,000 pledged through Kickstarter, the PolyPulse is now in production and available to order for UK/EU customers at Thomann, and for US customers at Perfect Circuit. The device is priced at £1769 for UK/EU customers and $2099 for US customers.
