Latest updates suggest the M6 MacBook Pro might receive a significant upgrade, potentially transforming it into a game-changing device.

In a significant shakeup for MacBook Pro users, Apple is reportedly planning to remove the controversial notch from its devices in the M6 models expected to launch around late 2026 or early 2027. The tech giant is set to replace the notch with a Dynamic Island feature and switch to an OLED panel, as seen in the current M4 iPad Pro.

The notch removal is tied to a transition from mini-LED to a tandem OLED display. This change will provide brighter colours, better contrast, and improved efficiency, according to recent reports.

The Dynamic Island, introduced on iPhone 14 Pro, is expected to debut on MacBook Pro as well, supported by macOS Tahoe's inclusion of Live Activities. These features could integrate seamlessly with the Dynamic Island on the Mac's screen.

Live Activities have already landed on the upcoming macOS Tahoe, and it is not a wild idea to think that they could appear in a Dynamic Island on Mac soon.

The M6 MacBook Pro launch has been delayed slightly; while M5 models (with no major design changes) are slated for early 2026, the true redesign featuring OLED, Dynamic Island, and a slimmer chassis is now expected between late 2026 and early 2027, according to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman.

The camera is likely to move from the notch to a punch-hole design, freeing up more screen space and enabling the new interface element.

Overall, Apple is preparing a significant MacBook Pro redesign with the M6 chip generation that will replace the notch with a Dynamic Island integrated into an OLED screen, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality. However, this major update is anticipated to come after an intermediate M5 release with minimal external changes.
