Launches of ChargePoint's Flex Plus EV Charger, specifically designed for fleet home charging in Europe
ChargePoint, a leading electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions provider, has announced the launch of the Flex Plus EV home charger, specifically designed for European fleet markets, particularly the company car segment which accounts for 60% of new car sales in Europe.
The Flex Plus is the first charger built on ChargePoint's new AC charging platform and offers several key features aimed at optimising home charging for fleet drivers and simplifying management for fleet operators.
One of the standout features of the Flex Plus is its real-time dynamic load management. This intelligent system allows the charger to adjust charging speeds based on the home's overall power consumption in real time. This means that vehicles can charge at the fastest possible rate without requiring costly upgrades to the home's electrical service.
In addition to this, the Flex Plus is designed with smart home compatibility features, including solar panels, batteries, and broader home energy management components. This integration enables more efficient and sustainable energy use during vehicle charging.
Another innovative feature is the portable backplate mounting system. This unique design allows drivers to easily detach the charger and move it to a new residence, transforming the charger from a fixed asset into a portable one. This not only reduces costs but also ensures continuity when employees relocate.
The Flex Plus also integrates with ChargePoint's Driver Management Solution, providing fleet managers with comprehensive fleet management capabilities. This includes automated reimbursement for employees' home energy usage, access to public charging for drivers, centralised visibility into all charging activities across the fleet, tools for driver onboarding, management of driver groups, assigning charging rules, and consolidated VAT invoicing across different regions. The simplified driver experience is further enhanced via app or in-vehicle interfaces for accessing charging resources.
This combination of hardware and software is designed to streamline home charging for company car drivers while giving fleet managers centralised control and cost efficiencies. The Flex Plus charger leverages ChargePoint’s new AC charging architecture, making it a forward-looking solution tailored for the scale and complexity of European fleets.
Initial deliveries of the Flex Plus are anticipated later this summer. The ChargePoint Driver Management Solution software now includes the Flex Plus EV home charger for fleet managers.
