Law enforcement confiscates drones from a storage unit in Samut Prakan
Headline: Singaporean Drone Equipment Company Raided in Thailand Amid National Security Concerns
In a recent development, authorities in Thailand conducted a raid on a warehouse in Samut Prakan, impounding over 200 items of drone equipment. The warehouse belongs to TRD Systems Pte Ltd of Singapore, a company that provides high-quality drone equipment.
The raid was prompted by a report from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) following the detection of aerial vehicle signals in the area, which were found to be linked to the Singaporean company.
The managing director of the company, identified as Kritsanan, was present during the raid. The company, which has been operating for three years, has been registered and legal, but it is reported that they only sold their products to government agencies.
This raid comes amidst a nationwide ban on civilian drone flights in Thailand, issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) on July 30, 2025. The ban was a temporary security measure due to border tensions with Cambodia and remains in effect until at least Aug 15, 2025, with possible extensions if necessary. The ban aimed to prevent drones from being used to monitor troop movements or military facilities amid the conflict.
The impounded items include 29 drones, 38 signal detectors, 129 signal-jamming guns, 16 jamming devices, a van for detecting and disrupting signals, and 50 other related items. The CAAT continues to prioritize national security while easing restrictions to restore normalcy.
It is unclear at this time what the implications of this raid will be for TRD Systems Pte Ltd and their operations in Thailand. The company has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
