LG and ZKW unveil a concept car featuring microZ-LED headlights at CES

At this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), ZKW and LG are showcasing their latest innovations in intelligent vehicle lighting and infotainment systems.

The ZKW Group, a global partner to the automotive industry, is presenting its top-quality high-tech products, including headlamps, fog lamps, rear lamps, flashers, interior and license plate lamps, and electronic modules. Their primary goal is to promote the development of innovative holistic lighting systems.

One of the highlights of ZKW's display is the premium headlights for the Volvo EX90, featuring over 1.3 million pixels that dynamically adapt to traffic situations and precisely block out other road users. Another unique feature is the ability for the daytime running lights to swivel up and down in the typical Volvo hammer shape, revealing main light modules.

In cooperation with OSRAM, ZKW is also presenting innovative rear light modules with transparent LEDs laminated onto a transparent carrier substrate. This creates an animated surface for tail lights, indicators, brake lights, and illuminated logos.

ZKW's intelligent vehicle front and illuminated front panels, developed in cooperation with REHAU Automotive, can interact with other road users and increase driving safety. The automaker presenting the new headlight with an illuminated charging level indicator animation by ZKW at CES is General Motors (GM) for the Chevy Silverado.

LG's concept car is equipped with high-resolution microZ-LED headlights from ZKW, enabling cinema-like 'drive-in theater' projections in the future.

ZKW's corporate vision is 'Ground-breaking premium lighting and electronic systems from ZKW for all mobility concepts of the global automotive industry.' They aim to make their global production CO2-neutral by 2025 and all products by 2038, through saving energy, avoiding waste, and switching to green electricity.

The ZKW Group is shaping the look and character of vehicles worldwide with their innovative lighting systems and styling. They employ around 10,000 workers and generated total revenues of 1.5 billion euros in 2023.

As part of the 'SusMat4CarLight' project with partners, ZKW is researching recyclable materials for future lighting systems. They are also working on sustainable headlights, animated rear lights, and the latest innovations such as the intelligent 'Illuminated Panel' and an illuminated bumper (together with Rehau).

ZKW's motto is 'Bright Minds, Bright Lights,' combining bright minds with modern production technologies. Major automotive manufacturers trust their brands to innovative products from ZKW, including BMW, DAIMLER, FORD, GEELY, GENERAL MOTORS, Hyundai/Kia, JLR, Stellantis, RENAULT/NISSAN, VGTT, and VW.
