Li Auto to Introduce the Electric i6 SUV on September 26, Aiming for Sales up to 10,000 Units Each Month
Li Auto, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is preparing for the official launch of its second pure-electric SUV, the Li i6, on September 26. This comes after a challenging period for the company, with vehicle deliveries decreasing by 8.64 percent year-on-year from January to August, delivering 263,198 vehicles.
The Li i6, measuring 4,950 mm in length, 1,935 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, is a new five-seat SUV. It is Li Auto's response to the sales declines the company has experienced this year.
Li Auto's founder, chairman, and CEO, Li X, has expressed optimism about the Li i6, aiming for stable monthly deliveries of 9,000 to 10,000 units for the new model by the end of the year. This is in contrast to the lukewarm reception of the Li i8, for which no new information about sales figures or deliveries is provided.
The Li i6 features a low-drag design for reduced energy consumption and extended range. It offers single-motor and dual-motor options with a CLTC range of up to 720 kilometers.
Li X has also stated that the company aims to provide families considering the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW, or Audi Q5 with an additional purchasing option, positioning the Li i6 as a competitive choice in the midsize SUV news.
In addition, Li Auto expects its overall battery electric vehicle (BEV) models to stabilize at 18,000-20,000 units monthly. However, the company's August deliveries showed a continued decline in Extended Range Electric Vehicles (EREVs) and the Li Mega nearing a record high. It is worth noting that the Li Mega electric MPV is not mentioned in the new information provided.
The price range for the Li i6 is about RMB 250,000 ($35,130) to RMB 300,000, as stated by the company. The Li i6 is expected to play a significant role in Li Auto's efforts to boost declining sales following the lukewarm reception of the Li i8.
As the launch of the Li i6 approaches, Li Auto is hopeful that this new model will help the company regain its footing in the competitive EV market.
