Mahindra Thar Facelift Launched in India With New Engines, Features

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the facelifted Thar in India, offering a range of powertrains and features to cater to various preferences. The rugged SUV continues to provide a choice between rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) systems for enhanced off-road capabilities.

The 2025 Mahindra Thar retains its 1.5-litre diesel engine, producing 116 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, paired with a RWD setup. For those seeking more power and off-road prowess, the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine delivers 130 bhp and the same 300 Nm of torque, but is reserved for 4×4 versions. Additionally, a new 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine joins the lineup, offering 150 bhp and 300 to 320 Nm of torque, available with both manual and automatic transmission options.

The Mahindra Thar LXT, priced between ₹12.19 lakh and ₹16.99 lakh, brings modern comforts to the rugged SUV, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen, cruise control, and a rear camera. In contrast, the entry-level Mahindra Thar AXT starts at ₹9.99 lakh, featuring halogen headlights, LED tail lamps, 16-inch steel wheels, and dual airbags as standard safety features.

The 2025 Mahindra Thar Facelift offers a compelling blend of rugged off-road capabilities, modern features, and a range of powertrains to suit different needs. With prices starting from ₹9.99 lakh, the Thar continues to provide excellent value for money in the compact SUV segment.
