Headlines flash, warning of a massive cybersecurity incident:

LexisNexis Suffers Data Breach, Affecting Over 364,000 Americans

Georgian data broker giant LexisNexis Risk Solutions (LNRS) has reported a breach - their third-party platform used for software development got hacked on December 25, 2024. The intruder stole sensitive personal information from 364,333 individuals - such as names, contact details, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and dates of birth. Financially sensitive data, like credit card information, remained safe.

Here's what we know so far:

  • The breach didn't affect LNRS's own networks and systems; it targeted their third-party platform.
  • LNRS learned about the breach on April 1, 2025, after receiving a tip from an anonymous third party.
  • LNRS has sent out notifications to affected individuals and is providing them with two years of free identity protection and credit monitoring services to help safeguard their privacy.
  • As of now, LNRS hasn't detected any misuse of the stolen data. They're cooperating with law enforcement and cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident further.

Consumers are being urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious financial activity. Be careful out there, folks! Keep a close eye on your accounts and protect your information.
