Massive Data Leak Reveals Personal Information of 4 Million U.S. Citizens - Unveiling Names, Home Addresses, and Social Security Details
Breaking: Major Data Breach at VeriSource Services Exposes 4 Million Individuals
In an unexpected turn of events, Houston-based company VeriSource Services Inc. (VSI) has disclosed a significant data breach that has potentially compromised personal information of around 4 million individuals.
According to a recent filing with the Office of the Maine Attorney General, the hack occurred back in February 2024. Unauthorized access was gained to VSI systems, resulting in the exposure of sensitive customer records, including names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and genders.
In their statement, VSI revealed that they became aware of unusual activity disrupting system access on February 28, 2024. Upon discovery, the company promptly secured its network and hired an outside digital forensics and incident response firm to investigate. Following an extensive review completed on April 17, 2025, they identified the individuals and information impacted by the data breach.
Notably, VSI offers a variety of employee administrative and benefit data management services, such as COBRA administration, dependent verification, ACA reporting, eligibility monitoring, direct billing services, and more.
While VSI reports no evidence of misuse so far, it has notified the impacted customers and is providing identity theft protection services, including dark web monitoring and a $1 million insurance reimbursement policy. The FBI has been informed of the incident, and VSI has also taken steps to beef up its security protocols moving forward.
