Mercedes-Benz Unveils 2027 GLA Hybrid's Distinctive Design, Power
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the first close-up images of its next-generation GLA hybrid. The compact SUV, set to arrive in 2027, showcases a unique grille design and distinctive rear lights.
The GLA hybrid's rear lights feature an LED loop that stretches from the rear quarter panel to the hatch, giving it a sleek and modern look. The headlights, meanwhile, mirror the design of the upcoming 2026 electric GLC, with a straight DRL strip and star-shaped LED.
Under the hood, the GLA hybrid will be powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, a 1.3 kWh battery, and 48-volt technology. An electric motor will be integrated into an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The hybrid system is a result of collaboration between Mercedes-Benz, Geely, and Volvo, similar to the development of the M252 engine.
Two-wheel drive versions of the GLA hybrid could produce 161 hp, while 4Matic trims will share 188 hp between both axles. Looking ahead, the electric Mercedes-Benz GLA is expected in 2026 with an 800-volt electrical system and up to 349 hp in dual-motor, all-wheel-drive form.
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLA hybrid, based on the same platform as the CLA sedan and wagon, is set to offer a blend of performance and efficiency. Its unique grille design, requiring cooling slots, sets it apart from the electric version. With the electric Mercedes-Benz GLA following in 2026, the company is expanding its hybrid and electric offerings in the compact SUV segment.
