Mercedes unveils a concept of a high-power electric hypercar, boasting a remarkable 1.341 horsepower.
In a groundbreaking announcement, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the AMG GT XX, an electric hypercar that is set to redefine the future of high-performance vehicles. The GT XX, a showcase for Mercedes-AMG's electric performance ambitions, was first revealed in June 2025, with a production date yet to be confirmed.
## Performance
The AMG GT XX boasts an impressive power output of over 1,341 horsepower, generated by a tri-motor setup using advanced axial-flux motors developed by YASA. This setup allows the GT XX to accelerate from 0–62 mph in under 2.5 seconds, with some sources suggesting potential for sub-2-second 0–60 mph times. The top speed exceeds 223 mph, making it one of the fastest electric vehicles ever conceived.
The GT XX's dynamic torque vectoring improves cornering, acceleration, and stability without sacrificing energy efficiency. The car is equipped with a fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, with a rear-biased dual motor configuration and a front motor that disconnects when not needed for efficiency.
The GT XX's high-performance battery, using Sila Nanotechnologies’ direct-cooled cylindrical NCMA cells, is estimated to provide a range of over 300 miles per charge, with some sources suggesting up to 400 miles in ideal conditions. The car's 800-volt system supports ultra-fast charging at over 850 kW, capable of adding nearly 250 miles of range in about five minutes (20–80% charge in five minutes).
## Key Features
The AMG GT XX's aerodynamics are exceptionally efficient, with an aerodynamic drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.198. The car features extensive active aerodynamics such as AIRPANEL louvers and a Venturi-effect diffuser. The car is also equipped with active aero blades in the 21-inch forged aluminum wheels, which open to cool brakes and close for lower drag.
The interior of the GT XX is race-inspired, with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14-inch infotainment screen. The car features an AMG One-inspired steering wheel, carbon-fiber bucket seats tailored via 3D printing, and seat coverings made from recycled GT3 race tire yarn.
Cooling and durability are key considerations in the GT XX's design. Each rear motor features a planetary gearset and both water- and oil-cooled inverters for sustained high-performance use.
## Infrastructure Readiness
While the GT XX supports 850 kW DC fast charging, such charging stations are currently rare and not widely available. Mercedes plans to deploy its own network of ultra-fast chargers in 2026, alongside the production version's launch.
The Mercedes-AMG GT XX electric hypercar is a technological showcase with groundbreaking performance, efficiency, and luxury features, setting a new benchmark for electric hypercars. Mercedes is not just aiming to compete in figures, but to redefine what luxury and power mean in the post-combustion era. The GT XX is a statement of intent in aluminum and volts, representing the point where the electric vehicle becomes a visceral, competitive, and desirable experience.
The AMG GT XX, with its advanced axial-flux motors, showcases the blend of technology and sports performance, set to revolutionize the racing world. Moreover, its impressive power output and innovative features, such as dynamic torque vectoring and high-performance battery, position it as a pioneering electric sports car in the realm of high-performance vehicles and sports.
