Merging biometric technologies, policy, and resources for transformative impact on individuals' lives.
The FBI has awarded a $129.7 million contract to Leidos to support its biometric services program within the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division's Fingerprint Analysis Support Team (FAST). The five-and-a-half-year contract aims to modernize and strengthen the bureau's biometric identification capabilities, particularly in conjunction with state, local, federal, and tribal law enforcement agencies.
Leidos will provide support for CJIS Division's biometric services, which encompass fingerprint analysis as well as other identification methods. The company will continue the collaboration established in 2016, utilizing agile methodology and development operations concepts to improve the software development process.
Since 2018, Leidos has been working with CJIS to develop and integrate the Next Generation Identification (NGI) system into the FBI's infrastructure. This cutting-edge biometric identification system offers access to a vast repository of biometric and criminal history data, as well as features like the Repository for Individuals of Special Concerns and Rap Back, which provides notifications of criminal activity for individuals in positions of public trust.
The contract signifies a major advancement in the FBI's biometric technology, enhancing its ability to analyze and identify biometric data effectively. It also cements Leidos' position as a critical partner in the advancement of federal law enforcement technology infrastructure.
