Money amassed for mutually beneficial initiatives: Sauerland, to the tune of two million euros
Volksbank Sauerland's crowdfunding platform, known as "Many make more," has successfully raised over two million euros since its launch. The platform connects community investors with regional entrepreneurs and social causes, fostering local development and cohesion.
More than 39,000 donors have contributed to the platform, resulting in over 485,000 euros in additional funds due to a co-funding principle that adds an additional ten euros for every donation of ten euros.
The funds have been collected through numerous individual donations for more than 350 non-profit projects in the Sauerland region. The supported projects include new playground equipment, funding measures for sports clubs, and cultural projects.
Examples of projects realized through the platform include the modernization of the playground in Wormbach, the acquisition of a club bus for TuS Velmede-Bestwig, new uniforms for the dance group Düschede, the artificial turf pitch in Lennestadt-Kirchveischede, and the equipment of the Spielmannszug Herdringen with new lyres and vests.
Volksbank Sauerland encourages associations and organizations to continue submitting their ideas via the crowdfunding platform in the future. The goal of the platform is to ensure that good ideas do not fail due to financing.
Michael Griese, board member of Volksbank Sauerland, stated that reaching the two million euro mark is a sign of trust in the concept and the strength of the regional community. Another board member, Michael Reitz, states that the motto "What one cannot do alone, many can" is the basis for the success of the platform.
