April 24, 2025: Dropping a double threat! Following the launch of the Edge 60 Fusion on April 1, Motorola's now ready to debut its foldable powerhouses – the Razr 60 and the fancy Razr 60 Ultra. Arriving earlier than expected (the Razr 50 Ultra hit the shelves last June), these sleek devices promise to refine a winning formula from their past models, but come with a tarnished reputation. Let's dive into the details!

More Power, More Durability (On Paper)

Right off the bat, let's focus on the bright sides. The Razr 60 Ultra sports the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Qualcomm's top-of-the-line 2025 processor – meanwhile, the standard Razr 60 settles for a MediaTek Dimensity 7400X. Both phones are equipped with a hefty 16GB RAM, claimed for high-performance multitasking.

Our site Stepping up its game yet again, Motorola claims to have improved the durability of its devices, with new titanium hinges that can withstand an estimated 800,000 openings.

As for the photography department, the Ultra model sports a dual 50MP sensor, same as its predecessor, while the standard version comes with a 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor.

A Mixed Display Picture

The Razr 60 Ultra boasts a 4-inch external AMOLED display running at a swift 165Hz LTPO refresh rate and a brightness of up to 4500 cd/m2, although Motorola fails to specify the exact percentage of the screen where this figure applies. The internal display now offers a definition of 2992 x 1224 pixels, a notable step-up from its predecessor.

The standard Razr 60 sports an external 3.6-inch 90Hz AMOLED display and an internal display that's somewhat smaller but maintains a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.

Questionable Long-Term Commitment

Fanfare aside, a major concern revolves around the support period for these devices. Both Razr 60 models come with only four years of software updates. Given the rapid pace of technology, three new versions of Android will become outdated, meaning users won't be able to enjoy up-to-date operating system features and importantly, security patches.

In contrast, competitors like Google and Samsung pledge seven years of updates for their high-end models, ensuring a longer lifespan for their devices.

Hopefully, Motorola will follow in the footsteps of manufacturers such as Honor, which recently extended support for its Magic7 Pro model to seven years, putting it in line with market leaders.
