Munich Airport experienced significant disruption on October 2, with flight operations temporarily halted due to multiple drone sightings. This incident, part of a growing trend of drone-related disruptions at European airports, led to the rerouting of 15 incoming flights and the cancellation of 17 departing flights, impacting nearly 3,000 travelers. The identity of the person who reported the drone sightings remains unknown.

Late on October 2, Munich Airport was forced to suspend its flight operations. Earlier, the Danish Armed Forces had issued an order to draft reservists in response to similar drone sightings. Takeoffs were halted at 10:18 p.m. local time due to multiple reports of drones in the area. Police were swiftly dispatched to search the vicinity but found no drones or suspects.

Passengers affected by the disruptions were provided accommodations inside the terminal while the airport worked to resolve the situation. This incident is part of a broader increase in drone-related disruptions at European airports, highlighting the ongoing challenge of ensuring safety and maintaining smooth flight operations in the face of such threats.

In total, 15 incoming flights were rerouted and 17 departing flights were canceled, affecting nearly 3,000 travelers. Despite an extensive search, no drones or suspects were found. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential disruption and safety risks posed by unauthorized drone activity near airports. Authorities continue to investigate the reports and work on enhancing security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
