Netflix Hunts Director for AI Gaming Future
Netflix has been exploring the potential of generative AI in the gaming industry. Mike Verdu, previously VP of Games, transitioned to lead the strategy for generative AI before leaving the company. The streaming giant plans to introduce AI-generated interactive ads in the gaming sector by 2026.
Verdu's role involved partnering with game studios, tech teams, and leadership to shape Netflix's approach to generative AI in gaming. This comes after Netflix's co-CEO Ted Sarandos praised the use of generative AI in the show 'The Eternaut', noting its cost and time-saving benefits in the gaming industry.
Netflix's first in-house game studio closed in 2022 without releasing any projects. Now, Netflix is hiring a Los Angeles-based Director of GenAI for Games with a salary range of $430,000 to $840,000. The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of industry experience and a deep understanding of the game development lifecycle in the gaming sector.
Netflix's interest in generative AI for gaming is clear, with plans to integrate it into advertising by 2026. The company is actively seeking a Director of GenAI for Games to drive this initiative forward in the gaming industry, offering a competitive salary package for the right candidate.
