Night Flight Training Causes Temporary Noise Increase in Sankt Augustin-Hangelar
Residents in specific areas around Sankt Augustin-Hangelar can expect increased nighttime helicopter activity from October 6 to December 19, 2025. The Federal Police Aviation Group is conducting a night flight training course at the police service's flight school during these dates.
The training, which takes place from Monday to Thursday between 18:00 and 22:00, is a legal requirement for pilots to obtain their license and perform police helicopter tasks safely at night. The course is led by an unnamed pilot or head of the police flight school in Sankt Augustin.
The Federal Police Aviation Group, Germany's second-largest civilian aircraft operator after Lufthansa, provides air support for the daily tasks of the Federal Police. This includes border, rail, and sea surveillance, making the training crucial for maintaining these services.
Residents in affected areas should expect some noise disturbances during the evenings of the training period. The Federal Police apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public's understanding as they work to ensure the safety and efficiency of their air support services.
