Nike's Air Max 1 'Big Head Mode' sneakers draw inspiration from Nintendo's GoldenEye, featuring a black-tie design.

The much-anticipated Nike Air Max 1 Low Poly "Big Head Mode" shoe was officially released on April 7, 2025. This limited-edition sneaker, inspired by the classic video game GoldenEye, pays homage to the iconic James Bond movie of the same name.

The shoe boasts a unique low-poly aesthetic, with a pixelated Swoosh on the side and laces and tongue adorned in gold, reminiscent of the Golden Gun in the game. The overall colorway is a nod to 007's tuxedo, featuring black satin fabric, white mesh fabric, and gray nubuck leather overlays.

The Air Max 1 Low Poly "Big Head Mode" comes equipped with Nike's Air cushioning in the insole and a rubber waffle outsole for superior comfort and durability. The shoe also features extra padding on the tongue for added comfort.

A mock-rating on the inside of the tongue reads "RATED BY EVERYBODY" with a giant "E", a playful nod to the game's humorous "Big Head Mode" or "DK Mode".

The shoe was available for purchase on Nike's .SWOOSH site for $160, but due to its popularity, it sold out within minutes of its release. Since then, pieces of the shoe have been spotted on the secondary market for prices above $450.

The "Big Head Mode" variant is part of Nike's ongoing innovation on the iconic Air Max 1 silhouette. For those who missed out on the initial release, it's recommended to check Nike's website or authorized sneaker retailers for the latest purchasing options.

It's worth noting that the Nike shoe inspired by GoldenEye is not the only one in the series. The "Big Head Origins", also based on the Air Max 1 Low Poly template, features a crosshair over a steel pattern on the insole.

GoldenEye, the first-person shooter game that debuted on the N64 console in 1997, introduced mission objectives and approached the FPS genre with more stealth, making it a fan favourite. The game's "Big Head Mode" was a humorous addition, making character's heads disproportionately large.

The Air Max 1 Low Poly "Big Head Mode" is a testament to Nike's creativity and their ability to blend pop culture references with timeless design. Whether you're a fan of James Bond, GoldenEye, or just a sneakerhead, this shoe is sure to turn heads.
