Nintendo's Switch 2 Continues to Shine

In a remarkable quarter, ending in June, Nintendo sold an impressive 5.8 million units of its latest console, the Switch 2. The new device, priced at around 470 euros, has proven to be a strong contender in the market, resisting the trend towards game streaming.

Despite the higher price tag, the Switch 2 has managed to sell over 150 million units of various models, combining portability and television connectivity. This success is evident in Nintendo's impressive financial results, with the company's quarterly revenue increasing by 132% year-on-year to approximately 3.34 billion euros. Profit also grew by 18.6% year-on-year to approximately 560 million euros.

One of the key factors contributing to the Switch 2's success is its exclusive games. In 2025, the top exclusive titles for the Nintendo Switch 2 include Kirby Air Riders, Witchbrook, Drag x Drive, Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, Splatoon Raiders, and enhanced editions like Sid Meier's Civilization VII: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. These games, optimized for the console’s hardware, offer potentially better performance, quicker response times, and offline play without internet dependency.

In contrast, streaming games, which rely on cloud technology, can suffer from latency, image quality reduction, and require a strong internet connection. While streaming games offer the advantage of instant access to a large library without downloads or updates, Nintendo's exclusive titles maintain their traditional appeal by combining the company’s strong IPs with hardware features like enhanced Joy-Con controls, and local multiplayer capabilities, aspects often limited or unavailable in cloud gaming.

The Switch 2 offers improved image quality and more processing power compared to the original model, making it a significant upgrade. However, the original Switch console, still sold for around 290 euros, is not to be overlooked, especially for those reaching its technical limits, especially with more complex new games.

Despite the high demand, there are still shortages and waiting times for the Switch 2 in many countries. Nintendo delivered 3.5 million units of the Switch 2 in the first four days after launch, and within two months, the company has sold over 6 million units of the console.

Nintendo has also released a new racing game from the "Mario Kart" series that is exclusive to the Switch 2, further bolstering the console's appeal. With its unique gameplay experiences tightly integrated with the hardware, the Nintendo Switch 2 continues to attract fans of Nintendo’s franchises and local gaming setups.

What about the entertainment offerings on the Switch 2? The gadget boasts an impressive library of exclusive games, such as Kirby Air Riders and Witchbrook, that take full advantage of its technological enhancements, providing better performance and offline play.

Coupled with its success in sports titles like the new exclusive Mario Kart game, the Switch 2 has proven to be a versatile device for both technology enthusiasts and casual gamers seeking unique experiences in entertainment and sports.
