Onyx Boox Unveils Palma 3: Color E Ink & Cellular Connectivity E-reader
Onyx Boox is set to release the Palma 3, an innovative e-reader featuring color E Ink and cellular connectivity from Consumer Cellular. Unveiled at IFA Berlin 2025, it promises offline app usage, a first for the brand. The Palma 3, expected to run on Google Android with full Play Store access, will support voice communication apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger via cellular connection. This marks a significant shift from traditional e-readers that require an internet connection for most apps. Two versions of the Palma 3 will be available: one with a black-and-white e-paper display and another with a color E Ink display. Both will support 4G and 5G SIM cards, enhancing their usefulness in daily situations. Despite these features, Onyx Boox confirms the Palma 3 will not be a smartphone but rather function like an iPad, focusing on app usage on the go. The Palma 3 from Onyx Boox, with its color E Ink display and cellular connectivity, is poised to redefine e-reader capabilities. By supporting offline app usage and voice communication, it offers users greater flexibility and convenience. Although no official release date has been announced, tech enthusiasts eagerly await its arrival.
