Opens on Dover Street: First Physical NFT Gallery in Mayfair, spearheaded by women
The female-founded NFT Gallery has made its debut in London's fashionable Mayfair district. Located at 5-7 Dover Street, W1S 4LD, the gallery spans two floors and 270 square-metres, providing an important space for female participants in the digital art sector.
Founded by Lynn Rosenberger and Lilien Hornung-Mary, the gallery aims to bridge the gap between art collectors and creators, offering a unique platform for engaging with NFTs and digital art. To achieve this, the gallery has partnered with Web3 Agency MAD Global for strategy, partnerships, programming, and events.
The inaugural exhibition, 'Surface Tension', showcases female artists working in the digital sphere. Among the artists featured are Sarah Meyohas, Aitana Basquiat, Lili Eva Bartha, Shadi Ghadirian, and Rebel Society.
Sarah Meyohas' work, Bitchcoin, questions the speculative value of cryptocurrency and the ineffable value of art. Aitana Basquiat explores a surrealist vision questioning what it is that makes us human. Lili Eva Bartha's work allows clothes to grow on the virtual body of the viewer, while Rebel Society's virtual portraits of imagined women stick two fingers up at the patriarchy.
Shadi Ghadirian challenges current gender roles through her sepia-toned photography. Rebel Society, known for their provocative and empowering art, add a fresh and contemporary edge to the exhibition.
The gallery has also partnered with internationally renowned creators of NFTs and digital art to provide exclusive artworks and collections. Collectors can purchase NFTs with both crypto and fiat currencies, and have the option to purchase a TokenFrame to display their NFTs.
The opening event on Thursday attracted attendees from the arts, tech, business, and beyond. Notable attendees included Maxim (of The Prodigy), Coinbase's Head of Europe, Google's Head of Arts, and other art industry figures.
The exhibition 'Surface Tension' runs from 9 June 2022 to 22 July 2022. For those interested in exploring the intersection of art, technology, and femininity, The NFT Gallery is a must-visit destination.
Lilien Hornung-Mary, Co-Founder of The NFT Gallery, brings extensive experience working in the fashion industry for companies such as Tomorrow, Wunderkind, and Pepper. Lynn Rosenberger, the other Co-Founder, has experience working for various companies in the art and fashion industry.
The NFT Gallery is set to become a significant player in the digital art world, offering a unique and engaging space for artists and collectors alike. With its focus on female artists and its commitment to bridging the gap between the physical and digital art worlds, The NFT Gallery is poised to make a lasting impact on the art scene.
