Pi Network Launches Rust SDK, Kicks Off Global Developer Competition

Pi Network has introduced a new Rust Software Development Kit (SDK) for smart contract development on its blockchain. To celebrate this launch, the network is hosting a global developer competition, the Pi Hackathon, with substantial prizes.

The Pi Rust SDK focuses on type-safety and asynchrony, offering developers contract-specific functions and a local testing mode for debugging and reliability. It is built in line with the Stellar Soroban Rust SDK, including tools, libraries, and a command-line interface (CLI) for simplified contract development.

The SDK uses a host environment for secure, efficient, and compatible contract execution with existing Rust libraries, enabling advanced features like asynchronous processes. This launch aims to expand Pi Network's developer base and enhance the utility of the Pi token, fostering a more functional and innovative blockchain ecosystem.

The Pi Hackathon offers significant prizes: 75,000 Pi for first place, 45,000 Pi for second, 15,000 Pi for third, and 5,000 Pi for honorable mentions. Submissions are due by October 15, encouraging developers to create innovative commercial Pi applications using the new Rust SDK.

Pi Network's launch of the Rust SDK and the Pi Hackathon are strategic moves to attract more developers to its platform, boost the utility of the Pi token, and stimulate the creation of innovative blockchain applications.
