Posco Opens EUR 57M EV Motor Core Plant in Poland
Posco International has finished building a new plant in Brzeg, Poland, dedicated to producing electric vehicle (EV) drive motor cores. The EUR 57 million facility uses advanced steel and technology for enhanced efficiency and reduced noise. The plant's opening was marked by a ceremony attended by key figures, including the company's CEO.
The new plant, which began trial production in October and will fully commence operations in December, boasts an annual output capacity of 1.2 million motor cores. Posco International has secured sales contracts with European automobile manufacturers, although specific names remain undisclosed. The company's drive motor cores utilise Hyper NO steel sheets and EMFree technology, promising improved energy efficiency and reduced noise and vibration.
Posco Group's ambitious goal is to secure a 10% share of global EV drive motor core sales by 2030. To achieve this, the company plans to increase its annual production capacity to 7.5 million units globally by the same year. Posco has already secured orders for 35 million drive motor cores worldwide, including 1.68 million units for European Hyundai and Kia EVs.
