Predicting the Future: Macs with Touchscreens Slated by Analyst Kuo

Apple is set to take a significant step forward in its laptop lineup with the anticipated release of an OLED MacBook Pro equipped with a touchscreen. According to reliable sources, production for this innovative device is scheduled to begin by the end of 2026, with a possible product launch the same year.

The OLED MacBook Pro, following its renewal, will be powered by an M6 chip, marking a significant upgrade from the current M4 MacBook Pro lineup, where the M5 processors are expected to be introduced next year.

The exact design of the OLED MacBook Pro remains a mystery, but it's clear that this device will bring the MacBook range closer to the functionality of an iPad, with the touchscreen being a key feature. Notably, the current MacBook screens are not touch-sensitive.

Samsung is rumoured to be the supplier of the OLED displays for the upcoming MacBook Pro, with Apple adopting on-cell touch technology for the touchscreen. Mass production is anticipated to begin in early 2026.

Interestingly, Apple's plans for Touchscreen Macs are currently in an advanced stage in the supply chain, as reported by Ming-Chi Kuo on Wednesday. After the launch of the first Mac with a touchscreen, which is expected to be the OLED MacBook Pro, Apple is considering a touchscreen for the next affordable MacBook.

While the MacBook Air, as of now, does not have a touchscreen, future developments could potentially see this change. The second-generation OLED MacBook Pro is expected to launch after the first one, paving the way for further innovations in Apple's laptop lineup.

The release date for the OLED MacBook Pro is currently expected to be either by the end of 2026 or sometime in 2027. As always, Apple's plans are subject to change, but the anticipation for this touchscreen-enabled MacBook is palpable.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to follow Apple's journey towards integrating touchscreens into its MacBook lineup.
