Proposal made by Russia to permit direct testing for navigator accreditation rights

Navigational assistance is more than okay for a newbie driver. Once they've mastered the ropes, they'll probably depend on a navigator. And here's the kicker - a navigator won't have emotions or put any pressure on the learner. That's according to an expert.

End-of-test instructions for examiners should be clear: Give the driver a task beforehand, and here's where things get messy - some examiners announce a maneuver just a minute before, while others do it "10 seconds" in advance. A navigator, on the other hand, considering speed and traffic density, can alert the driver to "keep right or turn right in 200 meters," stated Dmitry Popov.

On the legislative front, Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma committee on labor, social policy, and veterans' affairs, has proposed reinstating a 50% discount on traffic fine payments within 20 days. However, this proposal is still under review. In 2025, the option of a 50% discount disappeared. As it stands now, Russian motorists can only enjoy a 25% discount on traffic fines if they are settled within 30 days, thanks to changes that reduced the discount from 50% to 25% starting January 1, 2025[1]. This law, signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the end of December 2024[1], extended the discount period from 20 to 30 days.
