Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme Blows Away Benchmarks, Coming 2026
Qualcomm has unveiled its latest Snapdragon X2 Elite and X2 Elite Extreme chips, designed for laptops and compact desktops. The X2 Elite Extreme, in particular, has shown impressive performance in early benchmark tests.
The X2 Elite Extreme, featuring 18 cores and a top clock speed of 5 GHz on two cores, has demonstrated significant improvements over its predecessor. In multi-core testing, it scored 23,491, a 50% increase from the previous generation.
In single-core testing, the Extreme variant achieved a score of 4,080 in Geekbench 6.5, beating the previous-gen Snapdragon X Elite by 39%.
Qualcomm representatives hinted that these powerful systems will likely sell for significantly more than $1,000.
Early tests also revealed impressive performance in GPU and NPU tests. The X2 Elite Extreme's GPU scored 90.06 in 3DMark Solar Bay ray tracing benchmark, 80% faster than the previous generation. In NPU testing, it scored 4,151 in Procyon AI Computer Vision, 78% faster than its predecessor.
The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is set to be available in the first half of 2026, promising to compete with next-gen designs from Apple, Intel, and AMD. With its improved performance and reduced power consumption, Qualcomm's latest offering could significantly impact the laptop and compact desktop market.
