The WaldSchwimmbad Neu-Isenburg in Germany has taken a significant step towards sustainability with the installation of a new photovoltaic (PV) system on its roof. Commissioned in March 2025, the system covers a 411.6 square meter area and consists of 206 modules, each with 445 watts of power, totalling 90,000 watts peak (kWp).

The east-west orientation of the modules allows for electricity generation even on cloudy days, making the system a reliable source of clean energy. This renewable energy system generates around 90,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, which is equivalent to the average annual consumption of approximately 25 private households.

The PV system has already resulted in a 20% reduction in the swimming pool's electricity consumption. The first construction phase of the system was completed at the end of 2024, and an expansion is planned for the coming year. The additional modules will be installed on further roof areas of the swimming pool, increasing its capacity by an anticipated 80 kWp.

The generated electricity is used directly on site at the swimming pool, improving its environmental balance. By using solar energy, the pool avoids over 65 tons of CO2 emissions annually compared to using fossil fuels. This reduction in emissions contributes to the municipality's broader goals for climate protection and sustainability.

The expansion of the system will further enhance the pool's energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint. The PV system at the swimming pool is a key component in aligning with environmental and energy transition goals. For precise numerical data on energy output and emission reductions, consulting the facility's latest sustainability or energy performance reports would be ideal.
