Banks Warn Customers: Stolen Credentials Circulate on Dark Web

Hey there! Today, we're diving into the world of cybersecurity, where tens of thousands of bank login credentials have been discovered on the dark web, belonging to customers in Australia.

The cybersecurity firm Dvuln has uncovered this info, stemming from four years of malware attacks on customers with bank accounts in Australia. They've found login credentials for 14,000 customers of the Commonwealth Bank, 7,000 of ANZ, 5,000 from NAB, and 4,000 from Westpac.

But wait, there's more. The actual number of infected devices is likely much higher, as many infections remain undetected or traded in private channels. The data was taken from phones and other devices infected with malware, not due to hacks on the banks' security systems.

A recent report from KELA found that billions of passwords have now been lifted from devices worldwide. Dvuln emphasizes a concentrated and cooperative effort is required to combat this type of fraud.

"This represents only a fraction of a much larger global problem."
