Energy start-ups in the sector receive backing from joint initiative 'Accelerate Power', launched by Rhein-Kreis Neuss and RWE Power AG on March 1. The initiative's focus spans across renewable energy sources, network and storage technologies, hydrogen, decarbonization, circular economy, and heat supply.

Revamped Assistance Initiative: 'Boost Power'

Ready to dive into the future of energy innovation? Let's talk about "Accelerate Power," a groundbreaking program designed for start-ups in the energy sector. This program is all about accelerating the growth of future-focused tech companies, and it's taking place right in the heart of the Rhenish mining area.

Attending the project's presentation was quite the gathering: Landrat Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke, Michael Eyll-Vetter from RWE's Brown Coal Development division, Manuela Schmielewski and Christian van Dongen from RWE Power AG, and Dominik Hintzen, head of the innovation team at the Kreiswirtschaftsförderung.

So, what's the plan? Up to five start-ups will receive a whopping three months of expert guidance from industry leaders, along with access to the extensive network and resources of RWE Power AG. The program is neatly divided into three phases: "market validation," "product development," and "business model development." And at the end of this power-packed journey, participants will get the chance to wow the crowd with a "Final Pitch." The winning team will score a fantastic follow-up funding prize of 50,000 euros and intensive support from RWE's "Future Business" department.

If you're wondering where this energizing concept came from, it's inspired by the success of "accelerate_RKN," a start-up support program with an industry twist. The Kreiswirtschaftsförderung has set its sights on unlocking newfound entrepreneurial potential for the Rhein-Kreis Neuss, and partnerships like the one with RWE Power AG for the Rhenish mining area are a big part of that mission.

The successful winners of the program's Final Pitch will receive not only a significant funding prize but also intensive support from RWE's Future Business department.
