Samsung didn't introduce many groundbreaking innovations this time around; instead, they presented new performance improvements and minor upgrades at the same price points as previous years' models.
In the smartphone sector, Samsung introduced their next instalments of the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5. Both of these devices are remarkably flatter and thinner than their predecessors while boasting enhanced chipsets and user interface enhancements. The Flip 5 boasts a significantly larger exterior screen with numerous widget and app integrations, and Samsung is promising even more functionality from this display in the future. They are also promoting a special case for the Fold that includes a redesigned, slimmer S Pen.
When it comes to smartwatches, the upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 series is bringing back the pricier "Classic" design together with the physical rotating bezel. Samsung is placing a strong emphasis on the device's sleep tracking features, including a brand-new app that will assign users an animal name based on their specific sleeping style. They are also promising future app integrations like Gmail and Audible.
The upcoming Galaxy tablets are making a bold statement that size truly matters. The Tab9 Ultra stands at 14.6 inches, bigger than many laptops and the majority of large tablets, such as the iPad Pro. The Tab now features a redesigned S-Pen and the same chipset that powers its premium Galaxy phones.
Most of these devices are now available for pre-order and should hit the market on Aug. 11.
