Rostelecom's 'Gosdoki' Service Brings QR Code Passports to Russia in October 2025

Rostelecom has developed the 'Gosdoki' service within the 'Gosuslugi' app, allowing Russians to use a qr code instead of a physical passport in certain situations. The service is set to launch in October 2025 and will initially cover age-restricted purchases, cultural visits, and postal services. It will later expand to multifunctional centers, communication salons, financial organizations, and hotels.

The 'Gosdoki' service enables users to verify their identity using a qr code, similar to the digital id in the Max messenger. While the use of the qr code is voluntary, physical passports will continue to be accepted without restrictions. The service is expected to simplify everyday tasks and enhance user convenience.

Initially, 'Gosdoki' will be available for buying age-restricted goods, visiting cinemas and museums, accessing office centers, and sending or receiving postal items. In the future, it plans to expand to multifunctional centers, communication salons, financial and private medicare organizations, and hotels.

The 'Gosdoki' service, developed by Rostelecom, is poised to revolutionize identity verification in Russia. With its launch in October 2025, users will have the option to use a qr code instead of a physical passport in various situations. This digital shift promises to streamline processes and improve user experience, with further expansion planned for the future.
